Have you started a book and instantly knew you were going to be on the tips of your toes with the Love??/Hate?banter between the characters?
That is exactly what "Bully" did to me!
It started right out of the gate with intense hatred of Jared to Tate with no back story as to why, don't worry that comes later. But you can feel the pain thru the embarrassing and spiteful actions against Tate. The book continues to build that feeling of empathy for Jared and I know I know how can you have empathy for a tormentor? I guess I have a soft place in my heart for the wicked, what can I say. Through out the course of the book he is the problem not Tate, however the abuse on both characters can be felt thru each chapter, intensifying until it finally boils over and consumes everything. You can experience the similarity with moments in your own life when you hurt the ones you love the most and realize, after the fact, you could lose the one you need the most in your life.
"Bully" gives you painful moments to walk thru with the characters and mixes your feelings of regret, forgiveness and trust. It will leave you pulling on your own past "high school romance" strings.
The spicy scenes are the right amount of spice for a book chronicling the lives of high schoolers and their relationships. For me the spice made me jealous as I did not have those strong, "I need you now" moments but seeing it through Jared and Tate's eyes was exceptional.
